Med-Now

This is an adaptive reuse of a 1950's warehouse into a medical supply and equipment facility for Med-Now.  The building structure was retained while upgrading the interior to current code. The interior was configured to meet the tenants needs with significant remodeling of the exterior.

This is the first remodel in a group of existing and new buildings on one site.  The exterior design sets the design vocabulary for subsequent projects, dramatically upgrades the exterior aesthetic, and utilizes symbolic elements and colors from the tenants business to present a signature presence to the public.   Multiple stucco colors compliment the existing brick.  The entry corner is truncated to break the boxy plan and facade.  White and blue accent colors combined with the raised "heart-beat" graphic allude to the medical use.

Lawn on the street frontage and landscaped parking and service drives replaced the dirt lot.  The tenant required a grade dock and a vehicle ramp for inside loading of delivery vans.  Public parking and the entry is located to service the larger than normal number of disabled customers.

The interior presented a particular challenge with a 38 inch difference between the truck bays and the warehouse floor.  The display and sales functions are placed on the lower level at grade.  A centrally located interior ramp is used for access between the two levels.  A display area for large items is located on the upper level parallel to the ramp separated with a glass railing.  The upper level is used for offices, restrooms, delivery staging and cleaning, maintenance and warehousing.
